How to Create a Quiet Time That’s Personal, Peaceful, and Powerful

It’s Not About Perfection — It’s About Presence

Do you ever scroll through social media and feel like everyone else has the perfect quiet time setup — the coffee mug, the candle, the Bible spread out with all the notes and highlights in just the right spot?

I used to think that was what devotion was supposed to look like too.

But one morning, sitting in my Chaise and my pj’s still on, I felt the Lord whisper: “Your way of spending time with me is fine because it’s our time.”

That moment changed everything. Because it reminded me that devotion isn’t about performing for God — it’s about being with Him.

Whether it’s five minutes in the car before work, journaling before bed, walking and talking to Him or praying while you fold laundry, your quiet time with God doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. It just has to be real.

Quite Time Tools I use

Why Spending Time with God Matters

In a world full of noise, distractions, and endless to-do lists, spending time with God grounds you in peace.

John 15:4 reminds us, “Remain in Me, and I will remain in you.”

That’s not just a verse — it’s an invitation.

When you make space for Him daily, you’ll notice:

  • Worry loses its grip.

  • Clarity starts to come.

  • You begin to talk to Him like He is physically right there

  • And joy begins to rise in the middle of the ordinary.

Spending time with God doesn’t just strengthen your faith — it steadies your life.

Your Quiet Time Doesn’t Have to Look Like Hers

When social media got to be a real thing, I thought I had to have a perfect morning devotion routine before God would meet me there.

If I didn’t keep my streak on my current Bible app, have a fresh journal, a quiet room, or an hour to spare, I’d feel like it wasn’t quite enough.

But that comparison was stealing the connection.

God isn’t grading your setup — He’s longing for your surrender.

Some of my most meaningful moments with Him have been in my Chaise looking out of the window at the sky, in the car, on my lunch break, or in tears before bed.

It’s your time with Him.

So make it special and specific to you.

If that means reading one verse a day or writing one line of gratitude, that’s enough.

He delights in your effort and sincere heart, not your perfection.

Coming Soon: The Every Way Devotional Journal

Out of my own quiet time journey, I created something special — a devotional journal for women who want to spend time with God their way.

It’s called the Every Way Devotional Journal.

Because your relationship with Him should be authentic, personal, and full of grace — every single day.

I can’t wait to share it with you soon.

Until then, keep showing up, keep talking to Him, and keep giving Him your heart — your way.

Here are a few ways to create a quiet time that truly fits your life:

  1. Start small. Five minutes of focus is better than thirty minutes with distraction.

  2. Keep it simple. You don’t need fancy tools — just an open heart and honest words.

  3. Write it down. Jot down prayers, scriptures, or what you feel God is saying.

  4. Be still. End your time by simply sitting in His presence, even for a minute.

Over time, you’ll find that what started as routine, becomes relationship.

Ready to start making your quiet time with God more intentional?

To help you get started, I created a free printable bookmark called “30 Daily Choices— Scriptures to help you choose Jesus everyday.”

It’s a simple bookmark filled with daily verses to reflect on — whether you’re journaling, praying, or just spending a few minutes with God. You can print it, fold it, and keep it tucked inside your Bible or planner as a gentle reminder to stay consistent.

Download your free 30 Days of Scripture Bookmark here.

Each verse is a small invitation to pause, breathe, and connect with Him — your way.

You are seen.

You are loved.
